Your Indianapolis AdClub has changed its name to AAF Indianapolis.
Here are the top five reasons your board voted unanimously to make this change:
AdClub Indianapolis needed change. Our club was dying. Other great advertising markets consider the local peer organization to be a vital part of a thriving creative community. A strong club is relevant to young people seeking a career and to any professional who values their own and their peers’ professional development as well as desiring a collegial market. A name change helps us send a message that real change has come.
AAF is a strong national brand. Nationally, ad clubs are adopting the AAF brand, and at last count, 105 clubs have already made the move. Not one of us would tell a local Starbucks that they would be well served to not use the national brand. AAF is the future. Thousands of top college students nationwide participate in the annual AAF advertising competition and are AAF members. They are our future.
Creative people are mobile. When top creatives consider our market, they search for the local professional organization to assess the strength of the market. AAF will be the most identifiable, prominent and searched brand. AdClub Indianapolis members are AAF members. Historically, members of the Indianapolis organization have also been members of the AAF. The national organization receives $25 of your membership dues to support programs and educational resources.
AAF Indianapolis has a rich history. We were the second ad club founded in the nation. Our club drafted the first national standard of industry ethics and founded the Better Business Bureau to self-police ethical practices in business and advertising. We honor our past as we move forward with a new brand. Our IndyAdClub.org Web address will remain active, and we will ultimately transition to AAFIndianapolis.org.
We are rebuilding a strong and active club. We are reaching out to all agencies and communications professionals. We have a big tent. In-house, B2B, boutiques, PR firms, clients, media, printers, designers — everyone is welcome and encouraged to participate. Your membership in AAF Indianapolis is important. You will benefit from professional development, networking and a stronger, more vibrant creative and professional community.
